Class Announcements
Welcome to American Lit II!
Welcome to American Lit II.  For those of you who were in American Lit I first semester, this will be a continuation of your chronological study of American literature.  For those who were in another lit class first semester, not to worry.  You'll be fine.

This semester we will be focusing on authors from the beginning of the 1900's up to the present day.  Besides reading lots of stories, essays, and poems together, we will also read the novel The Great Gatsby during third quarter and a modern novel (to be announced) fourth quarter.  Students will be able to choose lit circles (book groups) fourth quarter and choose a modern novel to read in a book club setting.

We also cover vocabulary, spelling demons, and literary devices and complete a research paper and a literary analysis.  Students are also required to buy a composition notebook and write 25 entries per quarter in a journal.
Welcome to American Literature!
Welcome to American Lit I.  I am looking forward to the chance to work with all of you this semester as we read many classics of early American literature together.  We will read one full-length play and one class novel as well as many short works from the text and various handouts.  We will also do plenty of writing, and I hope that you will feel comfortable in my class and enjoy the time you spend in Room 605.

Below you will find homework assignments, class handouts (including the syllabus and schedule for each quarter), and a place where you can post discussion comments about anything that's going on in the class.

As always, you can contact me directly with questions or concerns at kelly.king@badger.k12.wi.us.
